Our Approach
At Keowee Custom Furniture, every piece begins with understanding—your space, your needs, and how the furniture will be used. We approach each project with intention, taking the time to design pieces that feel appropriate to their environment and built to endure daily life.
We work with locally sourced hardwoods, selected through trusted relationships with small, locally owned mills in the Upstate of South Carolina. Materials are chosen carefully, prepared properly, and allowed the time they need before construction begins.
Our process emphasizes proven construction methods, thoughtful proportions, and careful finishing. We don’t rush steps or rely on templates. Each piece is built individually, with attention given to both structural integrity and how the furniture feels when used.
From initial conversation through final delivery, our goal is to create furniture that feels settled in its space—functional, refined, and made to last.
The Maker
As a kid, Legos were the main staple of every birthday and Christmas for me. There was something fascinating about following those procedural steps and watching as the form took shape. As I got older, and my creativity blossomed, music became an outlet. Conveying emotion through song and focusing solely on the notes on the page became a staple of my life for 15 years. Like all good things though, that ended. For a long time, there was no creative outlet. I was working, paying bills, getting married, and going through the "hum drum" of life. At the age of 26, I decided to go back to school for an Electrical Engineering degree. During that season of life, free time was a luxury. Often the free time I had was spent recovering from the mental load that Engineering School brings(i.e. sleeping). I specifically remember sitting on the couch in a pseudo-comatose state after an especially grueling exam week and a woodworking video came on YouTube. I watched the entire 30 minute video intently and thought: "I could totally make that". Spoiler: I totally couldn't but the creative spark had been re-lit. Now 10 years, an engineering degree, an amazing wife, two beautiful boys, and a lot of experience later Keowee Custom Furniture keeps the creative side of me alive and the little engineer in my head tells me when "that won't work".
I really look forward to working which each and every client. Building relationships is as important as building furniture to me. I love getting to know people and simply talking with them. Ask my wife, we can't go anywhere without me talking to someone. I strive to deliver not just a product but an experience to each and every client. I am looking forward to meeting you and helping bring your vision to life!
